Abby, Those are all beauties. I think I like Night Embers best of all. Very different color on her. Keep 'em coming. How many doubles do you have? I only have a couple the prettiest one being one of Rebecca's crosses. I had 2 siblings similar but different colors. I can't wait to see what they do this year.
I hope you are having a nice summer. It is supposed to be 18 degrees here tonight. Brrr.

The Night Embers came into a rich double with every bloom - almost looked like a rose. A very good performer as was Cotton Club. Those two would be my choice.

Betty Woods although a Medal Winner could not in my humble opnion match the above two.

I only have a few and as they come to bloom I will post them.

These two are my "picks", but then I am not much for Tets! (Cotton Club is a nice one though! I'd use either of these with a spider to get foundation stock for double UFs!

    Thanks Rebeca
I will try the Lavender Spider and see what comes out

I in particular like Night Embers as each time it bloomed it was double

    Forty Second Street (Kirchhoff-D., 1991)
height 24", bloom 5", season M, Rebloom, Evergreen, Diploid, Double , Pastel pink with bright rose eyezone above yellow to green throat.

    As single

    As double

    Abby,

Cross 42nd St with Sarah Grace; should yield 100% double flowering offspring and better form. Might even get peach base color with a deep peach eye.

'Night Embers' has a habit of not blooming double as well as it has been for you. Congrats! It is a beautiful double and a not too bad single! I have to wonder how it would work with 'Cotton Club', could get some neat "reds" out of it.

    Thanks Rebecca
The colour from 42nd Street should make an enhancement for Sarah Grace, but as pretty as she is, she also not a good performer for me, far too much variability with doubling.

I must say I hope I never see Night Embers in a single state

King Kahuna (Crochet, 1994) height 22”,Extended bloom 7”,season EM, Rebloom, Semi-Evergreen, Diploid, Wide, consistently double medium yellow self with three huge petaloids (OLIN FRAZIER X ELLEN CHRISTINE)

Once again a consistent double. Similar to Betty Woods in colouring but a much larger bloom, in particular the height of the three centre petaloids are impressive.

These beauties make me want to grow Daylillies too! I only have a 90X90 ft lot,and it's filled with amaryllids. My mom lets me grow some things on her larger property, but it's not the same. Someday, maybe. Please keep the beautiful pictures coming.

They do flower at a different season to the hippeastrums

And you get to see a bloom for your efforts 12 to 18 months which is about half the time for the hippie.

    Abby,

For you and Del (and others in more southern locations) the Daylily might grow to first bloom from seed in 12 to 18 months but for us northerners it can take 2 to 3 years because of the shorter growing season. The results are always worth the wait though!

Del you would have to stay with the Evergreen and Semi-evergreen types as dormants wouldn't make it in FL, not enough cold for them to really rest and do well. Fortunately there are a bunch of DL hybridizers in the Enterprize area that create, grow and sell exactly the kind you need!

Blessings for taking care of family and a double blessing to have them close and with you. Warning, Daylilies are addictive! There is no 12-Step Program for them either (nor for hippies as you well know!)

I sent Patsy a bunch of my seedling this past summer and she may have some that will do well for you, but it will take a season or two for them to settle in and for Patsy to get things going, but she will have some for sell. We'll have to get Patsy to tell us how this project is coming along and how we might help via ideas and advice.

    Whatcha think, Patsy

    Rebecca

(Sorry, don't have any decent doubles to show; this one is a possible future introduction.)

OK, to be serious...spring might be a better time to answer that question but for now I can at least confirm that I've already seen nice growth from most everything I'd planted. Of course, now the cold's creeped up on them but not for long. As always, Becca's right. This is just one more addiction . Hopefully these will be ready to share by the time you've found your shoe-horn, Del. I can hardly wait to see some of them bloom.

    Patsy!

You could share your idea about what you hope to be able to do. I know you have at least two plant genus to work with and if I keep supplying you with my "extras" in other areas I am working with you will have a nice selection. I have seen where you live thanks to our eye in the sky and Google Maps and I know you ain't got a lot of room, unless there is land not covered by the address I have for you!

please do tell us what all you hope to be able to offer!

I think I sent this one to Sherman for lining out and continued evaluation as a possible future introduction. Also hope I kept a piece of it or it's near white sibling, just can't recall and am to lazy to hunt down my list! Guess I ought to check that out, huh.
