The arches are eight and a half feet tall. The arch openings are four feet.
This wonderful rose is care free. It is extremely blackspot resistant. It has a dark pink (rose) light pink bicolor bloom,with a weak stem. It has a good fragrance,which can be heavy at times. The stems are also fragrant from the oil glands on them,which are not apparent.This is a different fragrance from the bloom. It blooms most often in umbels of several blooms. It sets seeds infrequently. Hot weather does not bother it as long as it is not too dry. The blooms ball in cold damp weather.

I designed and built the forms, Installed conduit for lights, dug a trench,poured a footing,bent the steel reenforcement rods,and poured the concrete. I hired people who did concrete work three times. Each time they didn't show and I had to work like a fool and enlist family and neighbors to help me. I paid them more than I would have had to pay the labor I had hired,but I still built the arches for less than two thousand dollars. Concrete was one quarter the price that it is now. I saw a picture of roman arches in a dictionary,which I liked, and was influenced by that. I got an estimate of fourteen thousand dollars, without electrical,to build my concept.
The arches provide enough shade that I can grow things I otherwise could not. The only trees I have are pecans,on the south border of my lot. I have had many people come and try to buy my house,for more than I think it's worth. I have spent too many years amending the soil on my small lot. Most of the soil is extremly rich in humus.
