    Wild poinsettia

Found one of these growing wild outside in a neighboring county. Bought it home and now it has spread! I still think they are unusual and quite pretty.

I never knew there was such a thing. How neat. Do you know the botanical name. I would like to read up on that one.

    Looks very nice Keylime

Sure looks healthy, seems like a very vigorous speciment you have there.

It looks very much like Euphorbia cyathophora to me.

I think Abby has the right name for it. Obviously since I got it from the "wild" I would only be guessing based on pics from the internet anyway. But her name led to some photos that look just like mine!

I remembered it from the Nature Conservation newsletter - where someone was concerned about it spreading in our bush setting being such a vigorous grower. At least I think that it is the plant they were refering to.

I looked up the plant name from Abby and I do believe it is the same plant. Did you read the comment about soring the seed pods in a "covered" container because the pods explode when ripe? I have seen seeds do that and fly a long way. The lenghts that seeds go to disperse themselves always amazes me.
    Very interesting plant.
