    Pineapple tops.

On various forums, I've seen many tips on rooting pineapple tops. Here's one we just threw in a cup of plain water for a week or two.

Abby, I think it will grow into a pineapple, but I read that it will take 2-3 years.

Seeing I wait that length of time for a hippeastrum to bloom I might as well have a pinapple growing at the same time

Then you should do pineapple hybridizing to get a sweeter/bigger pineapple or some other goodies.

We had this most delicious pineapple for dinner.

So afterward to impress my nephew I said we shall grow another just like it and helped him pot it up - after all five year olds are so impessionable and thirsting for knowledge.

I remember him as a three year old and on my arrival he would say "Shush!!! everybody, my auntie is here and she has something important to say"!!! God bless him.

My dear bro to this day has never worked out what precious pearls of wisdom his son thought were going to come out of my mouth.

Some time later seeing it was growing it was planted into ground and look now

    UNBELIEVABLE !!!!!

    Cannot belive my eyes

Is it possible I just might get a pineapple ???

Whatever happens I sure got a handsome bloom and I will be planting more tops.

It is as beautiful as any other Bromeliad.
