    Will it make bananas or is it ornamental ? I love tropical plants(Trees in this case !) in untropical locales !

    Hi - It will produce bananas, but they're not very good to eat; full of seeds. You have to pay a price. You can have the ornamental look, and it will survive, with protection, over the winter. However, if you want sweet edible bananas, in a temperate climate, you would have to take them in during the winter. Research, however, has been going on, to produce more cold hardy edible varieties.
