I read this tip recently, and decided to give it a try. I have some baby stargazer bulblets in a window box. I used a couple of lattice type flats over it to discourage the squirrels.

Well, that wasn't working well, so I tried the tip that I read in a magazine. I sprinkled blood meal on top of the soil, and bingo, the squirrels didn't dig holes in the window box anymore. A week later, I removed the lattice flats, and still the squirrels didn't bother the bulbs. They never did take any bulbs, to my knowledge, but they would uproot them, which was mighty annoying.

If you have problems with squirrels digging in your flower beds or pots, please consider giving this a try and let us know how it works.

Thanks...
