    Wow!!! You are all GREAT!!!!

Many of you reported the posts that were made by users earlier today. Thank you ALL!!!

One user tried to repost after I deleted the thread. I banned his/her IP address as well as email address.

The other new users with 'not so nice' web links had their email addresses banned. I'll have to download an IP log to determine their IP addresses.

Gee, I hate doing that, but we cannot tolerate those kinds of posts.

If I have to, I will arrange it so that new members will have to wait for my approval. I don't want to have to do that, but we do what we must do.

    Thank YOU!

Ann, Looks like they are at it again. The latest new member also has the same bithdate and interest in pharmacueticals.
Wish people like this would not try to infiltrate nice sites. I'm sure they could find others interested in their filth.

As moderator of the Daylily forum it is my duty to keep you apprised of any smut/spam-mongors who try to infiltraite our community. Believe me, if I could have deleted the two posts I say today, I would have!

Even if I weren't a moderator, I'd be letting you know about it,Ann! I quit using one of my email accounts because of all the spam I was getting, not only in my bulk mail, but slipping through the site set filters and into my in box.

I think the best way to handle it is to ban the IP address and notify said IPS about it to. the legit providors don't want their service connected with the spammers.

Landspro forums has apparently been put on a spam list. It appears that this list was propagated to a porn list.

As you notice, we have numerous new members. Only one of the most recent is legit. I need to send her an email.

This is embarrassing to say the least, but it is part of what is wrong with the internet. There is no governing agency that protects the rights of the innocent.

The most recent message which I deleted and banned the ip had a yahoo email address for removing my domain from the list. I intend to write yahoo, but do not feel that it will help. Unfortunately, we have to put up with this until I make a decision as to what to do.

How do you all feel about requiring my permission for a new user to become a member? I don't want to discourage anyone from joining, but I cannot always be online to prevent and delete posts. If I don't do something, the posts will be there until I get online, delete them and ban the ip address.

    What should I do?

    Ann,

I feel it would be a very good policy and you can either say why it is now being done that way or not. If you chose to state your reason as to why new users have to go through the moderator first, the legit people won't mind and may even be thankful for it. The spammers will huff and puff a bit and then cross us off their list as well as pass it on to their spammer buddies.

I have made numerous changes to the registration process.

If anyone has a problem, they can email me: ann at landspro.com

We will see how this does. Maybe the problem will go away, but these people are mighty brave and don't seem to care.

It takes all kinds, but these kinds, I don't need.

I'm sorry if it offends anyone. But you do what you have to do until I can get this software upgraded... Even then, I think I would have to do the same!

There is indeed a pattern. It seems there is a gang that did have emails at cashette.com and they have moved to at gawab.com , so I have banned those emails. There may be a few others, but eventually it should slow down.

My apologies for your having to see their username for so long, but I delayed auto logoff so that I could catch the ip addresses of these monsters.

Thanks for your patience and support.

Whoops! Just added another email address. I have a list of about 30 email services to put on the banned list.

    Gee!

I seemed to have blocked users who have signed up more than once with the same email address.

    I thought I fixed it, but didn't.

Please try again. Email me at ann at landspro.com if you are having troubles logging on...

    Ann,
Perhaps a short blurb on the Registration notice explaining the process before they start, with a privacy explanation would help smooth the delay for real users. Maybe even let the new person know by a follow up email to confirm their registration would help.

I think we are all with you on your effort to keep trouble makers out. Keep up the good work, and let us know if we can help.

I read somewhere about a site to report child prom . If someone has it , I , YOU , We can report it to them . Just the government paperwork will slow them down and their name will be in system .
If anyone has that site - please post or email me with it .

Ann, I say do what you gotta do and let us know if there is anything we can do to help. No one here wants that sort of thing in our homes. If we did it would be easy enough to find it on the internet I'm sure.

We are not the only site that is fighting this. These people are ruthless and appear to have nothing constructive to do.

I seem to have made some progress, but I know that I will still have to battle it for awhile. It will be easier when I manage to get the software upgraded.

    Thanks for your patience.

I'm away for a while - and all this happens! Geez. Ann, if there is anything I can do to help, let me know. (It may help that my time zone is ahead of yours, I don't know.)

I see nothing wrong with asking people to register and provide some details about why they want to join - just like you would do on a moderated list in lots of places.

Its a shame that these people have nothing better to do!
