Thread: Day Lily Nurseries WOW!

    Day Lily Nurseries WOW!

There are three nurseries in this area that do practically nothing but day lilies. One claims 700 vaieties the other 900 and the third is smaller but had 1000's of plants. All are involved in developing new varieties. Worth visiting if you find yourself in Eastern South Carolina -- Hilton Head, Myrtle Beach of Charleston.

The other one is on Edisto Island.

Jim- just a wee bit of help with the first link:

Thanks for the heads up. I think it's a great idea to point out local daylily gardens particularly this time of year with all the summer travel !

In fact, I owe Bob some Tootsie Rose daylilies, but simply haven't had time to ship them to him.

Wow! Jim! I would love to visit those daylily nurseries!

Sorry about the links. I did them from the top of my head and I guess it wasn't too good today.

    Hey, Jim!

You did good!!!! I knew what you were trying to link to and so did Cathy.

It's a thrill to hear that you are so close and can visit them. Perhaps you can take some pictures for us since we can't visit in person. I would love to meet Mr. Roycroft in person and see his creations and nursery. What a treat!

Like Rebecca says, I am green with envy. Well, maybe not green, but you get the idea. Keep us posted on your visits and what you learn.

    Thanks!

I will try to get some pics from Aren't I pretty June 10 -- plan to attend their open house - will get back to Roycroft as well.

For people who like to garden or like to see gardens this area is really special. Not just Charleston but the whole area has great gardens to see.

Anyone coming to SC can e-mail me and I'll send you a long list of suggestions.

Even in the winter many of the gardens are still great.

    Jim,

I have flown into Raliegh, NC several times. The area is beautiful. I was on business trips, so there was no time for visiting gardens, but there is no doubt in my mind that some of the more beautiful gardens are in that area.
