    Fall Color

The kinds of fall color that I know is different from most. We do not have as many trees that change colors, but we do have blooms. Lots and lots and lots of blooms.... That is IF you choose the right plants and mother nature doesn't send a hurricane your way!

Actually, I see more and more blooms every day. A few never stopped blooming because they were somewhat protected. One of those has attracted hummingbirds and butterflies. In fact, hummingbirds and butterflies are all over the place today. You see, our temps are finally getting back to normal and blooms plants are recovering.

I'm enjoying a much cooler day! Okay, okay.... Cooler is relevant to the unusually high 90's we have been having as of late.

I'll try to get some pics later!

    Okay...

So, here is some of my fall color...

This is one of the humming bird attracters. Sorry, but I missed getting a pic of the hummer. She was gone when I came back with the camera.

    My Antique Roses

Wow, it is nice to see some blooms on the few branches that survived. There is no doubt in my mind that most will come back stronger than ever!

Ann, those are just lovely!! Thank you so much for sharing them.

I'm in my last week in Naples, IT, and they, too, have much in bloom. I came across three Daturas yesterday at Christ Church in Naples. They were in full bloom and just stunning. Lantana 10' tall blooming away. It has cooled down here, also and I think the plants love it.

Your photos are such a pleasure. I'll go back to them more than once. That milkweed is a stunner!! I gotta have one! They may even do well in Philly.

Hope the hurricane season is over. Very glad the temps have dropped (relatively speaking, of course.)

Isn't the milkweek neat? I sure hope that they do produce seeds, so that I can make more and share.

I have another that is one of my favorites and that is the 'catwhiskers'. I always have to look up the botanical name because I can never remember it. I'll try to get photos in the days to come. One is lavender and one is white.

Then, there are the angelonia. I am not sure how many survived. I noticed that the white one is blooming, but I used to also have a pink and a purple one.

And then there are others... I guess that many years ago, I simply got tired of all the spring blooming and annuals doing their thing to leave no blooms in the fall, so I started searching for fall blooming plants.

Now, I seem to have more that bloom in the fall rather than any other time of the year, and I am more dependent on my daylilies for the earlier blooms.

Not all are hardy here, so I have to take cuttings or protect the mother plant. If somehow I lose them, and sometimes I do (especially after a hurricane), I keep my eye out for another because they are my favorites.
