    Fantasy Poinsettias

Well it has finally happened...this year's poinsettias will come in 'orange mixed with red' and 'blue and green' ! Some will have glittering bracts and leaves ! I wish I could find a pic on the net, but only have photos in the newsletter from a local nursery.
No they didn't breed this--these are called fantasy poinsettias and they are actually dyed with some high tech dye that looks natural and lasts(far from sticking a stem in some water with dye in it). And you can add glitter as well.
Now, my little daylily friends.....perhaps this technology can be used to obtain that elusive blue daylily-- if only for a day !

If someone finds a Fantasy Poinsettia pic please post. (I'll try to scan the one I have next week).

Saw these beauties in person today. One was more beautiful than the other. I can't explain how stunning they are and the newsletter photos that I have do them no justice. I might try to go back and take some photos of them. I couldn't find any good photos on the internet. I found a place in Oregon but their poinsettias looked like ---well, not so nice---compared to what I saw today. Wowee Zowee

This is not quite the color that you are talking about, but I thought this one was quite interesting. It was a gift, and I have no idea where it came from.

    Pretty nice gift !

I went over to the nursery at lunch and asked permission to snap some pix. They were OK with that. Sorry guys I didn't go digital. I used a disposable camera which means develop and then scan. I'll drop off at Wally World on the way home. I'm more comfortable using the scanner at work than at home, so that means probably Monday to post them. If the pix turn out good though it will have been worth the wait.
Saw some very nice amaryllis bulbs while there--nice prices too-$19.98 Egads !

Ann/Anybody: I have the files ready to attach, but can I attach multiple files(each photo is a file) or do I create a new post(post reply) for each file/photo ? I have 8 or 9 photos.

    Cathy,

Post one picture for each reply. It is set up this way so that the database will be faster.

Anyway, just reply with a brief description of the pic, then 'Browse', find the file and open it. Submit it without preview or the attacment will be gone. Don't ask me why.

Depending on your version of windows, when you browse, if you have the option to view thumbnails, then you can see the pictures and select the one that you would like to have.

The other thing that you can do is to rename the file to descibe the contents.

I can't wait to see them!

Here are the photos. These are white poinsettias which have been dyed using ethanol based dyes that will not harm the plant. They will grow,of course, their natural color. Many of them had laser cut gold glitter applied but it doesn't show distinctly in the photos. Enjoy !

Here is a grouping. The lower ones really had a purple in them(not a deep blue as it appears) and the upper one is not the same color as the Caribbean Blue.
