    Who knows of a commercial site that has seed.especially for doubles? named varieties?

    althea/alcea

    Shepp--I notice Jelitto lists almost all the alcea as synonymous with althea. The mallow/hibiscus family seems to get confusing!

    You might check www.jelitto.com for their alcea, including the Chater's doubles. I would call these hollyhocks, you were looking for rose of sharon tho (I would call that hibiscus syriacus, a shrub done as you would know from cuttings).

    Then there's lavatera, which has gotten real popular here in the last few years.
