    Question Pecan Shells

May have access to ground up pecan shells .. very fine ....

Wondering if they would help the soil if added ... not as a mulch but as a soil additive .. to fine for mulch.

    Thanks,

    Jim

Jim- I realize that you are making the distinction between mulch and soil additive but read below from an internet search:

Pecan Shell Mulch - an excellent mulch for all planting beds but especially for roses and azaleas. Pecan Shells contain ****natural root growth hormones*** and might help with slug control because of sharp edges of the shell.

Natural Root Growth Hormones--Ground pecan shells sound like a winner !

    Pecan Shells

Thank u for the information ... have several pecan factories around here ... and have been wanting to try it .. so believe I will.

Have planted several more of my "found" roses ... when they get full size am going to have a lot of roses. With this weather ... need all of the mulch I can get. Maybe I can find some of the shells before they are ground up.

    Thanks again for the reply,

    Jim
