Hi, Everyone!

Marigolds must be the one single plant that got me 'hooked' on growing from seed. The seeds are easily to grow, the plants quick to flower, and harvesting seeds for next year and many years to come is equally as easy.

Here is a publication on the production of various types of marigolds, a quite popular bedding plant with more and more varieties available every year....

Greenhouse Production of Marigolds

These can be directly sown in the ground, but I have had the best success with starting them in cell packs and normally I do this 6-8 weeks before spring arrives.

I have never tried to grow these from cuttings, nor do I try to overwinter them. They are simply too easy and quick to grow from seed.

The doubled, petite French Marigolds are by far my favorite....
