Since we are talking about Daylilies -

I have seen the term BAP paste used in the propagation of them. I know what the initials mean (benzylaminopurine), but what do yo do with it and where would you get it??

Thanks Gary,
(benzylaminopurine) That's enough to get me started. Nothing like a good mystery to get the old brain working.

For those of you who don't know what in the world we are talking about or why (I heard you say Huh:) ); I posted that question to Gary's board and he very kindly walked all the way over here just to give me an answer.

I really posted it here because I figured if anyone I knew would know - Ann would. However Shari - you seem to know a lot about daylillies too.

BTW - I also posted an email to Dr Jerry Parsons at Texas A&M Univ about BMP.

I also have a telephone appt. with Dr. Mike Arnold at Texas A&M to discuss both air pruning and SPINOUT on Friday.

Other than highly technical university ressearch papers the only website I could find with any mention of BAP was at:

Hi, Gary!

I really couldn't find much on the subject myself, but maybe this will give you somewhere to start:

Ann,

I saw that site too. I suspect I will have to wait and see if DR. Jerry Parsons comes up with anything, and I'll ask Dr. Mike Arnold on Friday too.

I'll let you all know what I find out.

From what I understand is that the BAP paste is a powerful growth stimulant for plants and is used in Lily asexual reproduction to stimulate the production of plantlets from the scrapes.

I was researching for Shari anyway.

Shari and Gary,

Perhaps if you call the manufacturer, they can give you some clues as to where to buy and/or get information.

They should also be able to tell you whether the EPA has classified this product for home use. If not, you will most likely need a pesticide license to purchase and/or use it.

Thanks everyone.
You have given me much "food for thought". I do appreciate your help.

I have a 7 acre woodland tract that I am landscaping as I am preparing to build a new home. It is the reason for my ever zealous enthusiam for plant propagation.

When I came across a tiny bit of info on BAP, I wanted to know more about the product and its use.
