OH! Vicki!
That is gorgeous! I absolutely must have one like that.
If it produces seeds, can you save me some? I've never grown them from seeds, but I'd surely be willing to try seeds from that one!

Wow, Vicki, you have plenty of plants of different kinds. How can you grow so many (especially in Michigan). Is this a hardy perennial too, I assume?

Ann,
I will get you seeds if it sets seeds. I'm surprised that it sent up a bloom spike this year,
truly didn't even think it would come back one year, let alone 2!
Sue,
I will post another pic tomorrow.
Dave,
Yes it is hardy zones 6b-9. I do grow hundreds of hardy perennials. :) I try to 'collect' perennials, as I still have 3/4 of an acre that needs color, and there are so many lovelies that need to come live at my house! :) I love shrubs too!

This is on the Plant Delights list of top sellers. Down there at #30, but hey,
it is there. :)

Wow! It has been blooming for such a long time and still looking good now with its little pods :)

I've been watching the pods on mine (not purple) for two months now. I checked this morning and some of the pods had split opened and spilled. Perhaps, next year, I should tu-tu them.
I did manage to get a few seeds, so I'll sow them today and see how well they germinate.
Some of the pods are swiveling with no seeds, though, and it took 2 months for the pods to ripen. Does that give you enough time, Vicki? If not, you might try Hans-Werner's amaryllis trick. This is simply a matter of cutting the bloom scape and keeping it in a vase of water and refreshing often and cutting off the ends (part in the water) if they get soft and rotten looking.
The seeds are round and black. They are about the diameter of a No. 2 pencil lead which is lot bigger than I expected.
Vicki, I really like your purple one. It is currently on my wish list!!
:smiley-thankx:
