I was wanting some rhodos as I had them growing up and see them growing here. I did an internet search and, oh my, rhodos aren't just red are they ? I am drooling over this one ! I'll have to ask the nursery about it--about how to get it !

Cathy!!!
That is gorgeous! I've seen huge Rhodos in pinks and reds when I've traveled up north, but I've never seen a blue/purple one.
Azaleas do fantastic here, but Rhodos struggle. I have one that was given to me, and it struggles. I have had it for 5 years, and even though it lives, it has never bloomed for me. :(
If I could grow them more easily, THAT is one I would definitely want to have.
Let me know if you manage to get one. From what I have heard, the best way to propagate is to soil layer a lower branch.
With azaleas, all we do is stick them in dirt and keep them moist.

Wow. That thing is beautiful. I did a search and there are several nurseries that have it for sale.
Ann, I always heard that azaleas are hard to start. My neighbor has one that is salmon color and absolutely the prettiest one I have ever seen. Everybody that sees it says something about how pretty it is. I would love to start one.
I bought a yelow native azalea last year and finally got it planted last week. I hope it does well where I put it.

Sue,
Native and otherwise deciduous azaleas are difficult to root, but most of the regular evergreens that I see around here are quite easy.
Shame on ME! I only have the deciduos ones... Perhaps that is because they are so abundant and I can enjoy them in other people's landscapes.
I am considering some of the ones that bloom later in the year, though!
