Bees absolutely love The Dahlia tree – I was wondering what the spot was on the pix, right of the bloom and on enlargement it is a bee heading for the bloom.

The blooms are 5’’ (12cm) across and mauve pink in colour.

Plants are readily struck from the cane of the bloom.

Like any Dahlia they have a large tuber to support the plant.

Thank you Vicki

I am pleased that you,ve enjoyed it, I've lived with the tree dahlias for for some 20 years and absolutely adore them.

Actually they were the first plants/cuttings I got when I had my home built. Friends came to visit me some six months later and could not believe their eyes - there was a row of these tall canes full of blooms on otherwise an empty block of land. They thought they must be silk.

If you ever get the opportunity to get some cane, grab them with both hands. They are such beautiful blooms.

Abby,

I have heard of these before, but have never seen them on the market.

I adore Dahlias, and it is unfortunate that I do not try to grow more because most are quite hardy here.

Do these ever have seeds?

Hint?!??!!! Hint!!!!!!!!

Usually I cut them back after flowering but I've left som to grow on to see if they produce seed
