Azaleas are everywhere in my city. The city is known as the 'Azalea City', but yet I have very few in my landscape.

This one is deciduous. I tried to make cuttings for Tom a long time ago, and honestly, I don't remember what happened to them.

Anyway, this is the deciduos azalea known as Ben Morrison. It blooms later than the regular azaleas. Some may not like it because it is not evergreen, but I have always thoroughly enjoyed it.

Oh Ann, I love azaleas ! Believe it or not, growing up, we had azaleas lining the entire front and partial sides of our house--big and gorgeous pinks and red. And two rhododendrum on either side of the front door steps. You wouldn't normally think Long Island and azaleas but they do do well there. I also recall one on the side of the house that never grew more than 3 feet in 30-35 years and it had a lovely orange flower not unlike western azaleas.
I planted about 5 church rescues last year here in Kansas and I see only one that looks to have life, but I didn't realize that they might not be suited for this zone(partially why they are on the south side of the house); I hope they are just slow but I might just have the one now.
