This one is a big bloomer for me, and it seems to have escaped its protective pot. There are several popping up, here and there...

Still, lots of buds and a welcomed sight!

How pretty. I wish more of them were hardy here. That reminds me that I need to go down in the field and try to transplant one of our native ones. They do not transplant well but I want to try. They always mow before the seeds get ripe so I can't get seeds.

Sue,

This one is not as massive and huge as the red one. I prefer that!

Sunday, I tried to take some pictures of what appeared to be a baby honey bee collecting as much pollen as he could. His little legs were thickly covered in pollen. Unfortunately, my mini cd disk failed, so I lost the pictures.

I had never seen anything like that! Not to that extreme, anyway. They say we have a honey bee shortage this year, and that is really unusual because normally they are everywhere. The neighbor who owns the adjacent 20 acres was raising them. I haven't checked to see what the status of his hives are.

But, anyway, this pollen gathering seems to be working...

Ann, They are both pretty but I like Mom best.
Some sort of parasite wiped out a lot of the honey bees. But I have seen several lately so maybe they are making a come back. I sure hope so for polloinations sake. I have seen them with their legs covered with pollen. I don't know how they fly like that. Seems like it would be to heavey to get off the ground.

Mom appears to be hardy here. She has spread her roots outside of the pot and popped up here and there, just like Amythest (not shown on this thread, but popping up here and there).

I like the Mom, too! She has more slender leaves and is more fragile, but appears to be quite happy here. When she takes over, she does not take over quite so badly.

This is my second pod to harvest this week, and they are more filled with seeds than the ones that I harvested in prior years.

Thought you might want to see...
