It seems to become an invasive crop in this globular greenhouse in Duesseldorf, Germany *lol*
This species is rather unigue within its genus:
Umbels of upright blooms (3-8 seldom 10) with total radial symmetry. Really fascinating for me as I am so accustomed to typical zygomorph Hippeastrum bloom "faces"

Now, someone MUST tell me where I can find some of these bulbs. Surely, they are sold somewhere in the US.
My bulb book says that they are hardy here, and I suspect that I would have to mulch. But the idea of them multiplying is fantastic.
They are gorgeous!
Sorry about the delayed response.... I have been having difficulty with my cable service, so most of the time I read a thread only to be bumped off again. I think they finally have it fixed. At least, I am getting a decent response and I have been online for more than 5 minutes without being disconnected. Why does that happen on the weekend? Especially a long one?
Hans, keep posting those pics. Beware, though, I truly do have a weakness for bulbs of all kinds!!!:D :D :D

Jim Shields has a hybrid version. I wasn't able to visit the Hirt's site.
I'll keep searching. I love the color and the symmetry. The fact that it multiplies so readily is extra NICE!
What a beautiful color that would be to add to my gardens....
Hans, are they self fertile?

I still haven't found a good source. If any of you do, please let me know.
Seeds would be great!
Hans? Where are you? Are seeds available anywhere?
