Tricia hates this shrub as it is very invasive. She'd like to know what it is and how to kill it :(

Looks like Abelia grandiflora. This shrub has a very spreading form but otherwise can't see where it is invasive. The semi-evergreen glossy foliage along with clusters of small white to pink bell shaped blooms makes this a desireable shrub in my opinion.

Bingo ! That is it !!!!!
I told her that she's the only one who doesn't like it ! LOL!
And that it is not invasive; it is just big ! For her, it's more that it's in the wrong place. She's going to prune it.
Thanks again !

I recently found a nice variegated Abelia grandiflora called 'White marvel". Why it'c called that when the variegation is primarily yellow is a mystery! But any variegated form of a plant will have a much slower growth rate due to reduced amounts of chlorophyll in the leaves. Although this plant is very small now, I don't think I will ever have to trim it much over time and it will remain a smaller shrub plus will offer color to the garden when not in bloom (but abelia tends to bloom throughout the summer). I also have three variegated cultivars of Eleagnus which also grow at a much slower rate and require minimal trimming - and you know how rampant and fast growing that plant can be.

That is very pretty with the variegation. I did not know that that slows the growth of a plant. Interesting !
