Can anyone tell me if the " Paul Neyron" rose is a old fashioned rose bush ? The card said it dates back to 1869. I just thought if it was I would try to root some cutting from it.

Yes, Steve. It is on my list of roses grown on their own roots, so I don't think you'll have any problems with this one.
Have FUN!

Hi Ann
I am glad to hear it is a old fashioned rose. I am curious as to where you got your list. Is it on the web somewhere or did you do alot of researching and compile your list ?

Steve,
I have an old Ortho book on All About Roses, and I have found a couple of good sites on the web.
I keep my own list of specific old roses that I am interested in. Some on the list I have, others are simply ones that I saw in the store, wrote the name down, came home and researched. The Paul Neyron is one of the latter. My list contains information from many sources. It's just in a file I keep on the computer. When I gather more information on a specific one, I will update that file with the extra information. Some of the info is just observed, like flower color, flower size and fragrance.
Here are some good sites:

Steve,
Be very ... very ... careful. "On root" roses become addictive. :)
Thought the wind storm we had ...wiped out my cuttings but these fellows .. are tough ... all but one seems to be surviving.
Had a great time last fall hunting for them ... and protecting them through the winter. May have to find a larger area .. they also tend to take up more room than the hybrids.
Check out the Texas Rose Rustlers site .. they have pictures and infomation for over 200 different old roses. Book sold by antique rose emp. is worth the money as well. Have also picked up several books on ebay for next to nothing that had the older roses ....
I am not addicted to the old roses .... I can quit any time .... if I were to want to quit ... which I dont. :)

Steve,
I have old roses that I have taken cuttings of and are in the process of rooting.
Would be glad to do some trading. BTW I'll pick up your thermometer today.

Hi Gary
I am sure we can do some trading. I don't have many roses right now but I have lot of other plants you might be interested in.
I will have to compile a list of what I have to trade and we'll see what we can come up with.

Any of you rose people ever grown 'BALLERINA'? Isaw on a local TV garden show it was a good low maintenance choice.I'm not a rose person ,I just want one carefree to enjoy.
Thanks William B.
