I don't know why I never posted this anywhere, but this is the University of Rhode Island's list of sustainable plants, trees and shrubs.

I don't know if it will prove useful for those of you in the south, but there may be something useful there. What prompted me to post this, is "Kathy in Ga."'s fight against Fire Blight. They list many resistant plants, as well as alternatives to popular but succeptible/invasive plants. Hope this helps someone.
