This tree was a tiny thing when I purchased my home about 25 years ago. It was sad to see it go down because despite the hardness and small size of the pecan shells, the nuts were mighty tasty. A little on the oily side, but very good.
So, the question is now whether these new shoots are from the roots or simply pecan seedlings that the squirrels buried?
Whatever... I'm going to let them grow if they can, in memory of my favorite seedling tree!
