Hi Everyone
I have been out in the cold dividing some large nandina's my brother wanted dug up form his place. He had cut them down to ther ground last year, but were come back form the large roots. So I dug them up brought them home and potted up about 60 of them.
He also gave me some seed from a Bradford pear.
I know most Bradford pears are now grafted , but would the seed come up ? and would they be Bradford pears or some ohter type pear?

Hi Steve W.

How Heavenly to get that many Nandinas!
About the Bradford Pear, During my studies on Fire Blight I found that Pear trees are succeptible to this disease. This is sometimes casued by grafting on the larger root stocks. However, if growing from seed it may night pose a danger at all. You can learn alot about this if you do a search on "fire blight"
Something you might want to look into, if you plan on growing them for a market. Also the Blight isn't something that you would want in your garden. It is unstoppable, (haven't found anything that works) and will take over "ALL" of your plants, even contaminate your soil.

About the seed being true, sorry can't tell you on that one. Don't really know seeds to well.

Happy Nandinas,
