C. Asao, opened it's first blooms yesterday and I just couldn't get around to grabbing my camera, but I did today!

I've never know Clematis to close their blooms in the evening, but Asao is right where I can see it when I'm taking a break on the edge of my patio, and it sure closes! I will have to watcch the others when they get around to blooming, to see if any of the others do this or not.

I also found it odd that Dr. Rupple wasn't the first to have blooms open, it isn't even showing any color yet and it looks like 'Rouge Cardinal' may be the second one to have blooms open.

'Snow Queen' has only a couple of buds and 'Lilac Wonder has maybe half a dozen. 'Belle of Woking' is going to be a show all by itself this year! Lots of nice round buds getting fatter by the day. 'Nelly Moser' is showing a good crop of buds and 'Polish Spirit' is just growing like a weed, but not the first bud on it yet. 'Gypsy Princess' (?) is still struggling to come to life and little 'Dutchess of Edinburg' is busily climbing it's shephard's hook. I think it may still be too small to have any bloom this year, but will see is extra water and fertilizer encourage a bloom or two from her.

Here's one of the better views
