Hi,
I have tried to tell people about pruning their plants and bushes, and asking to get cuttings! The majority of people think I'm nuts to want to CUT their bushes. How would you explain it to them that they would understand? Not all tell me that. Just wondering!

Many people are convinced that there is nothing in life that is FREE! Why don't you tell them that you normally charge for this service, but are willing to do it for nothing in exchange for cuttings for your compost pile..
Maybe they will understand that....
Seriously, when I see a beautiful flowering shrub in bloom, and I would like to try to propagate it, I simply ask if they would mind if I get a few cuttings after it has finished blooming. If they give me an uncertain look or a frown, I don't go back even if they reluctantly say okay.
If they happily agree, then I go back later and get a few cuttings. In the meantime, I research the best methods to use for that particular plant.
Good Luck!

Suggest that u check out the Texas Rose Rustlers site ... they give very good suggestions on asking for cuttings of roses and believe they could be applied to other plants as well.
They believe in being very professional ... or creating that impression. :)
Good luck,
Jim
