The first time I cut back my lantana I put the cuttings in the greenhouse with no shade ,they wilted so misted them ,If I misted them in the evenings I notices in couple of days their leaves would turn gray to black and die I lost about 50 percent

The second time I put the cuttings under the benches and was really amaze how much better they are doing .I still see some that there leaves are dieing about half black Now I feel like this is a loss of moisture threw there leaves. If someone out there may know something to help out I"d sure appreciate it I do know I will try rooting powder the next batch.I will be doings these lantanas on a large scale

Gene,

A friend at our MG training gave me some cuttings of red lantana (tropical, dwarf, I believe). I used rooting hormone and put them under a cool (fine) mist in my greenhouse. This was in the fall, and the mist was set to come on every 2 hours and stay on for 5 minutes. I had no leaf loss or discoloration. They are still doing fine and will be ready for planting in the spring. I am going to try these in the ground rather than in pots and take cuttings again next fall, just in case they do not survive the winter.

Does that help?

Ann I don't know I think it was because of the moisture and possible a few cool nights. I won't give up yet I'll try again and again . Thanks Gene

There are many times that I have tried cuttings and failed for whatever reason. And I do just like you say, I try and try again until I find what works for me.

Sometimes what works for others does not work for me, but I don't give up. I just keep trying different methods until I find one that works for ME!

That is what really counts, isn't it?

Good Luck!
