Ann your vines are beautuful. My question is what sort of structures do you grow them on. I have Carolina Jessamine, Conferedate Jasmine and clementis growing on my deck. It is a struggle to keep the Jessamine in check -- trim it every week or it will jump to a neaby tree and I prefer that it doesn't.

Any ideas for structures appreciated.

Jim,

I cannot afford much for structure right now, but I must tell you that the Jasmine gets huge. I had it on a treated timber, and the timber broke, so I used three galvanzed posts (cemented) and tried again. That worked, but it does get too huge.

Many of my other tropical vines are in 5 gallon pots, and I use tomatoe cages upside down and some sort of ties to keep them attached. This particular vine is in one of those pots, and I have it placed by a post on my new 'temporary' porch. Both the passion vine and Dutchman's pipe are enjoying that post.

Most of my vines are either in that set up or they are planted near a chain link fence. I hope one day to get a better trellis.

My clematis are in pots next to tropical hibiscus, and they are enjoying that. I don't really have any other place for them at this point. Still trying to figure out what to do with the loss of the 75 year old pecan.... I knew i would miss that one, but just didn't know how much.

Morn, morn, but that is just the way it is...
