Clematis 'Warsaw Nike' would be the more proper name.

Warsaw Nike
Another recent introduction from Poland and named after a memorial to Polish freedom fighters. Rich velvet-purple with yellow stamens. 5-7" (13-18cm) blooms from mid May to August. Mature height 8-12' (2.5-3.5m). Pruning group B2. Above image and textvis from www.gardencrossings.com

Flower Size: 5" Dark violet-red flowers have a velvety texture with contrasting golden stamens. The ruffled petals overlap each other and have curled edges. More tolerant of shady sites and poor soils. Received the 1990 Word of Recommendation by the judging committee of the Royal Boskoop Horticultural Society, as well as the Silver Medal at 'Plantarium'
