Another beauty Rebecca! Those are called "pinched" petals, that you mentioned in another post? Every other one is "pinched" and the others are curled under. Quite unique! Love the contrast in coloring! How big is this spider lily? Why were the leaves, if that's what they were along the stem, removed? It also looks like that below the flower, below where the stem forks into a "V", it was cut at one time. Is that a usual characteristic, or one done by man? Don't mind me, I'm just starting to notice more details on pictures. :D

Good observations, Linda!

All of those Little scars are from previous blooms! I don't thing this one had any "leaf bracts" on the scapes, but they do ofter die back early, especially if it's been hot and dry.

The scape/bloom size is registered at 35" x 7", but it isn't quite that size this year. Plus this was a smaller fan so everything about it is a tad smaller.

Every petal is always pinched and every sepal always curls on this cv, but movement seems to change from bloom to bloom. Today, besides doing what it does, the petals have also recurved, I think it's doing it's "bagel" imitation! If I can get a good image of it today I'll try to post it this evening.

Not my best work, but this one is a bear to photograph; the throat always seems to come out over-exposed. Out of 8 shots, this one and one other turned out decent. This image was taken from the side to show how everything recurved and then you have the anthers and pistol shoting forward.

Enjoy!

Lovely daylily !
I have to admit that I started reading this thread from the bottom and was wondering what in the world you meant by the thread title Bark At Me Tonight; got my answer when I scrolled up ! :)

Every time I see your pictures, Rebecca, I am in awe....

I am learning what attracts me to some daylilies more than others. Being an oddball, I like the characteristics of an unusual form. I like the eyes, the watermarks, the ruffled edges, but I am not so sure that I care for the 'bagel' because there is so much of the flower that you cannot see.

However, with the spiders, the curling adds a lot to the overall appearance, and it reminds me of a little girl with locks of curly hair.

Nice!!!!
