Just for the heck of it I went around and counted visible scapes on just the seedlings this evening. These are 1 and 2 year old seedlings and all but two are growing in pots. The two lucky ones are in the front beds. There are 34 so far that are going to be blooming for the first time this summer. About half are from my own crosses and the others are from seeds given to me by other dabbers. There are around 100 seedlings between 1 and 2 years old, so a good many more may yet put up scapes.
Two of my crosses that are showing scapes are my Kwanso crosses! The smallest of the three seedlings I have is putting up two scapes! The third will probably show scapes in the next couple of weeks.
There are even seedlings in the sales group that are scaping for the first time!
What's bad is I've been so focused on watching the seedlings progress I have no idea of which named cultivars and second season plants have started to put up scapes!
Yeah, I think I'm beginning to get a little excited!
