I just happened to wander to the Lily Auction last night and could not believe it as I watched an auction end selling 1 daylily fan for $600. The really weird thing was that when I looked up the hybridizer's site(not the person doing the selling on the auction), they were selling it for $175 which was the starting bid by the seller. What in the world are people thinking ? Here's the pic: OK big woo, it looks blue, but so do a few others that aren't so expensive. It's called In Cahoots:
(If the buyer is reading this I will concede now that you must be far wiser than I). ;)

Just imagine all the plants you could have for that $600.00. Probably all the plants on my 'want' list! Although it is very beautiful. They must have more money than they know what to do with it! LOL!

The blue coloring is more from the type of film used than anything else. A slide film was used, Ektachrome, from what I recall from another discussion about this cultivar. I feel for the person who patd that much money for it, becasue they are really going to be disappointed when it blooms for them.
I do know that the hybridizer is sold out of them and thie buyer may be very well aware of the color being off; but I still cannot see paying that much for a daylily, no matter how many fans it was!
I played a bit with the image and have it closer to what it actually looks like (going by Gunda's discription in her catalog). It still isn't right as it does have a bluish cast around the eyezone area, I just don't know how to bring it out. I do wish Gunda would get a digital camera and quit messing around with film!
