The cold, cold winter finally made it down South. It must have followed Santa's Sleigh because it came with a sudden SWISH! The temps dipped to about 23-25 degrees and stayed in the freezing zone until after 9 AM.
Almost all of my perennials, both herbaceous and deciduos went into dormancy. To my surprise, the Purple Smoke Tree hasn't yet. The Buddleia's stills have lots of leaves, too. In fact, the latter is filled with seed pods, some of which were ready to harvest, so I did. I also harvested some Confederate Rose seed, and to my surprise, I spotted one open flower way at the top.
This year I received the best Christmas Gift of ALL, flowers all the way up until Christmas Day and such gorgeous cool weather.
The second best Christmas gift was a pair of FELCO 2 pruning shears, and, WOW, I am impressed. What they say about good tools apply to garden tools as well! It proves to me once again, you get what you pay for...
Now, I can propagate with ease, as these are by far the sharpest shears I have ever owned and the blades as well as every other part are replaceable. NICE!
Hope you ALL had a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS...
