I had a nice proliferation on my Illini Jackpot (my first!) It is in a pot now rooted but small. Should I put it in the ground or can I leave it in a pot in an unheated greenhouse over winter? I don't want to kill my first proliferation so I need some expert advice.
Thanks.

Sue,

I have several late prolifs this year, one isn't even rooted yet! I'm keeping mine on a 6x4x2 foot wire rach (with wire shelves) that I hav covered with 4 mil plastic, sort of an up-right dold frame I suppose you'd call it. It sits on the concrete pation and up against the Northwest side of the house. I have a flap , of sorts, on the front so it can be opened for ventilation from around noon to 5 or so in the evening on sunny days, but I'll probably have to seal it shut once winter gets here and everything freezes I think they'll be okay there through the winter, at least I hope so. Last year, or maybe that was two years ago, I just put the potted prolifs with the rest of the potted plants and the early ones were planted in the ground, they all did fine.

So, what I am getting at is yours should be fine in the unheated greenhouse in your zone. I just wish I had one to put all of my potted perennials in for the winter!

Thank you Rebecca for the advice again. I have actually been thinking of ;eaving my perennials out and mulching them well.
They seem to do well that way for the most part. I did move some more tender things in. The shade plants don't do too well in the greenhouse. Gets too hot too early for them. We are trying to get a cold frame up to over winter some things in.
