Bulbs by Scoring - Narcissus, Daffodils and Hyacinth

I have finished my first draft of a new Bulb Section for Landspro. I am posting the link here, so that you can view it, ask questions or make comments before I add the page to the web site.

If you want to try this method now, it is okay. Just make sure that you refrigerate the newly formed bulbs (after they get to the size shown on the lower right of the page) to give them a period of dormancy.

I haven't tried the smaller bulbs, but intend to try them. There is no reason why it should not work. The only problem that I would think they would have is that you would only be able to make 2-3 scores because of their size.

Day Lilies are a different kind of perennial, and are not considered to be bulbs even though they have thick roots that appear to be somewhat bulbous. The best way to propagate Day Lilies is by seed or division.

I have some Hyancinth bulbs that I bought a few weeks ago. (cheap cheap price) but have never planted them. Will I be able to score and plant in pot upside down, and get new bulbs from them?


Also, will I be able to do the same method with the new little bulbs?

Yes, to both! But you will have to wait for the newly formed bulbs to mature before scoring them.
