This method is for those of you who have cool basements in the winter time.

In the late fall or early winter, make 6 inch cuttings of the current seasons mature growth. You can snip off the tips of the thorns to make them easier to handle. As you cut each section, make the cut toward the bottom of each cane cutting at an angle and the top cutting flat. This will make sure that you do not plant them upside down and assist in rooting.

Plant them in a box of moist sand or peat moss and place the box in a cool, dark locations with temperatures between 32-50 degrees. Keep the medium moist. A product like Soil Moist should help.

Plant the cuttings in the garden or in pots in the spring.

I haven't tried this one, but it doesn't sound hard. I will be trying both the cold climate and warm climate method this winter, get pictures and record results. I will try some with and some without rooting hormone.

Good Luck and Have FUN!
