Hi Everybody,

I sure hope you all join in!

I want to know what all of your dreams, and goals are.

My dreams,

Own my Own Nursery (work in progress)
Landscape Design Consultant
Landscaper
Garden Tool, (I've already made two) and Garden decorations like pots troughs, bird houses) Designer, seller. (already Designed one Bird house, just haven't made it yet)

My 1st goal is to be a success, at the Nursery, and then the goals are as listed above. If they come that is More than wonderful, If they don't come that is okay, I will be happy with just the nursery.
But I will be working on all the others as well.

Of course, I want the pool, the horses, the LEXUS SUV, the Dream Home, More land with a Cabin in the (Mountains)by a stream.

A Beach house on the Gulf Coast.
A day at the Spa!
And so much more.
But Honestly, I have to say, I can't see any of that in my dreams, cause all I can see is GARDENING!
Through my gardening, I won't need a dream, 'casue I'll be seeing it all in person.

Will you share too?

I wish for all of your dreams to come true!

Kathy,

I could write a book about my dreams, but suffice it to say, I dream of a beautiful garden with lots and lots of flowers, no weeds and being able to mulch without flooding rains creating rivers washing all the mulch away.

I dream of a 50 acre farm with a stream and a huge pond big enough for a gazebo and edible fish.

But most of all, I dream of peace for not only ourselves, but for the future of our children and the children to come. And a healthy nation where there is no sickness, and everyone is happy, and no one is poor.

Ah, there is so much more...

I dream of the kids being grown and on there own. Selling this house in the city and buying 3 acres in the country, a larger greenhouse and an area with shade cloth cover.

As you Kathy, selling trough gardens, (in progress), yard ornaments( especially silhouets), and bird houses(not started this one yet). Maybe we should get together.HAHA

I dream of the peace and quiet of the birds chirping and the crickets at night. And yes some type of body of water close by.
The smell of the flowers and the morning dew.

My bib overalls and dirt covered clogs day in and day out and to not HAVE to get up and go somewhere else to work.

Ann, those are the most important dreams of all. Peace on earth, love not hate! Pure happiness, no sufferings. We can never forget!!!!!!!

Oh Judi,

How sweet that is! You have many wonderful things to look forward to!
Yes, the ornamental things are neat!
I can't wait to start playing with those too! Well, somewhere I need to find a little more time! That would be a nice gift for Christmas!
Can you send me some?
If you do...I'll send some back!

There are so many things to do with gardening, and it seems to take us all away. I love the serenity that you have written!
May We All have our dreams come true!

Lost part of my response!

The Gazebo how great! I want one of those.
50 acres, boy could you garden.
I hope to have a stream running through the yard one day, the constant ripples of the water as it trickles away.

Kathy & All,
I don't want to sound like a copycat, but I too dream of my successful backyard nursery, peace on earth and good health and happiness for all.
Being profitably self-employed has always been, my (our) biggest goal. Not having to depend on someone else for your paycheck. So they can pack up and leave after 25 or so years.!! I only work 3 or 4 days a week (3 or 4 hrs. day) in our firewood business, cause firewood is HEAVY work, me being a mere woman! Well I guess I'm to big to be considered mere! LOL! But I've never felt physically better. (besides the aches and pains!) Hubbie of course works longer hours, him being MAN!
I truly considered it a sign that I found the article about Mike and his backyard nursery in Mother Earth News. Here's how it happened. Was out putting in another flower bed and hubby says for the hours you put in doing that, to bad you couldn' find someway to make money at it. I said that would be so cool. Worked a couple more hours, came in the house, sat down with a cup of coffee, picked up the second magazine in a pile my brother gave me, and LO and BEHOLD there was Mike on the front cover!!! I was so excited I could barely stand it. Right when I was getting ready to prune my flowering bushes!!!!!!!! So begins the dream of Vicki's new frontyard nursery!!!
I will also be making planting bowls, pots, troughs, and stepping stones. Thinking about hanging baskets, till my plants get far enough along.
Well there's my .02 worth.

Happy Growing,
Vicki in West Michigan

p.s. didn't mean to sound snobby about working for someone else! GOOD LUCK to everyone for all their DREAMS!!!!!

Hi, everyone has great dreams here! Glad to see that we are all still able to dream! For those dreams will come true!

Vicki, that is a great story! I know,it's like you hope and hope for something that you are good at, and then when you think you'll never get to where you wanna go. Boom there it is right before your eyes!
God, showing us the way to make things better for ourselves, and others!

My story is sort of like that too.
By the way Zoysia grass? No it doesn't grow very well! They say it will take over in a "few" groiwng seasons, but I truely doubt it!
This grass doesn't seem to be what they say it is.

Okay Vic, I must admit I'm stummped on the Sappling arbor and trellisses. How are you making them? Do the sapplings still have the leaves on them? Sounds super neat but can't figure it out (visually)
Really got me here!

Kathy and All,
Actually seen it in the same mag. home handyman. No the leaves are trimmed off. Use 4 straight saplings, for the corner and cross pieces, (sand bar willow is excellent) but any sapling may be used. try to use pieces 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 inches.thick and about 8 ft. long. Thicker for the corner posts, and thinner to bend into designs. Tacked together with ring shanked nails. Design is what ever you want to make it but basically 4 posts (8 ft.) with cross braces (4 ft.) and u can even use grapevines for decorations. You could make a flat roof, or curved, or criss-crossed (that ones my own idea). Been collecting for doing this also. Found a great site to cut my saplings. Wild grape vines all over the place here. I live about a 1/2 mile from the river flats.
Did I explain it good enough?
Just another cool idea!!

Happy Growing,
Vicki in West Michigan

Boy have I gotten some really good ideas from all of you!
Vicki, that is funny cause when i was reading your post I was picturing desgins in my head as I was reading and I thought about a criss cross, and then I read that criss cross line you wrote!

What a wonderful Idea! I've always wanted a White Trellis! And a White Arbor!

Thanks, so much!
